Pioneer Day

With Pioneer Day being tomorrow, we wanted to share this video with you as a tribute to those Saints who sacrificed so much, many their own lives, so that we might fully enjoy and be free to live the Gospel.

The following words were spoken by a brother in the Martin Handcart Company:
"We suffered beyond anything you can imagine and many died of exposure and starvation, but did you ever hear a survivor of that company utter a word of criticism?…

“I have pulled my handcart when I was so weak and weary from illness and lack of food that I could hardly put one foot ahead of the other. I have looked ahead and seen a patch of sand or a hill slope and I have said, I can go only that far and there I must give up, for I cannot pull the load through it.
“I have gone on to that sand and when I reached it, the cart began pushing me. I have looked back many times to see who was pushing my cart, but my eyes saw no one. I knew then that the angels of God were there.
“Was I sorry that I chose to come by handcart? No. Neither then nor any minute of my life since. The price we paid to become acquainted with God was a privilege to pay, and I am thankful that I was privileged to come in the Martin Handcart Company."

With those humbling words in mind, we found it fitting to put these images to How Great Thou Art. For with all the suffering these Saints endured, they still praised their God, acknowledged His power and glory, never doubting His constant love and awareness of them.

In humble conclusion, consider these words from President Hinckley, "Should we be surprised if we are called upon to endure a little criticism, to make some small sacrifice for our faith, when our forbears paid so great a price for theirs?”

This song can be found on our 'Arise' cd,
available on our website heartboundmusic.com

Later as she was trying them out she realized that she had received a wonderful bonus...they not only help her read but THEY LIGHT UP! Yeah, that's right, they illuminate!

They have quickly become the envy of everyone...

Just look at the awe and wonder in Debbie's face, these glasses are mesmerizing...

So friends, if you are lucky and ask pretty pretty please, you just might get to see these lovely spectacles for yourself, at oh maybe Education Week?

Youth Spectacular...Spectacular Youth!

ARISE AND

FORTH

On July 16th and 17th, 2010- 30 Ogden area stakes combined their efforts to produce the Arise Youth Spectacular...and spectacular it was!

With over 3,500 youth, 170 full time missionaries, and the Weber State Institute all coming together to present one of the most incredible productions Ogden has ever seen. An estimated 45,000 people came to see them in the two nights, and set an all time attendance record at Weber State University. The event was stunning from start to finish.

Here are some of the pictures...

(The beginning of the program, singing "Arise")

(I Am A Child Of God...)

(A Glimpse Into The Pre-Existence...)

(Celebrating The Light...)

(Part of the finale...)

We, Heartbound, are blessed beyond measure to have been able to rub shoulders with these amazing youth over the last year. They have touched our hearts and inspired us to be better. We had the privilege of writing the song that was chosen as the theme..."Arise." What an honor it was to be able to stand on the same field and sing this song with such incredible youth. Our lives will be forever changed by participating in this event.

Sunday Thought...

"I testify of God's love and the Savior's power to calm the storm. Always remember in that biblical story [of Peter walking on the water] that [Christ] was out there on the water also...Only one who has fought against these ominous waves is justified in telling us - as well as the sea - to 'be still' [Mark 4:39].
Only one who has taken the full brunt of such adversity could
ever be justified in telling us in such times to
'be of good cheer' [John 16:33]."

~Jeffrey R Holland (Ensign Nov 1999)

The storms we speak of are figurative, though the trials we experience are very real and they test us to our very limits. So as the 'winds and waves' of adversity rage around us, we must try our best to be still and trust the One who knows and loves and aids us perfectly. Believe Him. He is who He says He is, and He will do all that He says He will do for us. He will see you safely through the storm. Take His hand, hold on tight, be of good cheer, and know that you could be in no better hands.

A Choice Land

Today we celebrate America, the land of the free. What a gift we have...freedom! Too often we take this gift for granted, and don't realize all that we have, and are able to do, because we are free. Not just today, but everyday, we should offer up prayers of gratitude to God for the blessing of living in such a choice land. Gratitude for the gift of freedom. Gratitude for those who founded this great country, and for those who continue to fight to protect it.

Consider these words spoken by President Ezra Taft Benson:

"I reverence the Constitution of the United States as a sacred document.
To me its words are akin to the revelations of God,
for God has placed His stamp of approval upon it.

"I testify that the God of heaven sent some of His choicest spirits
to lay the foundation of this government,
and He has now sent other choice spirits to help preserve it.

"We, the blessed beneficiaries of the Constitution,
face difficult days in America,
"a land which is choice above all other lands." (Ether 2:10)

"May God give us the faith and the courage
exhibited by those patriots who pledged their lives,
their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

"May we be equally as valiant and as free,
I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

~~~
"Stand tall and proud...
Hand in hand, and side by side...
One nation under God, We are America!"
